I work in the space between vision and practice

Teams are never short of ideas. What trips them up is the capacity to execute, or not knowing where to start.

How do you go from a big beautiful idea on paper to something your staff can deliver?

Well… you call me.

Turning theory into something that works on the ground is my zone of genius.

I bring my knowledge and experience into relationship with yours, and we work out what it needs to become. Then we build it.

We can work one-to-one or across a whole department. What runs through all of it is relational capacity and building something that holds up in the real world.

“I strengthen the people who hold care and the programs that hold people.”

Angie Brinoni

Who do I usually welcome to my table?

People closer to the ground and the front line, working through the real human situations that arise after the training is over.

Practitioners and supervisors

You came out of the team, and now you’re responsible for the people in it.

There’s a hard conversation you’ve been avoiding.

You’re carrying the team’s grief and taking it home.

You’re the person everyone calls for the answer and sometimes you don’t have one.

Organizations

You have the vision and no clear path to building it.

Your written program and what happens day to day are light years apart.

Your team is unclear on who holds which role.

You’re getting ready to be looked at by an accrediting body.

Ways we can work together

Everyone starts with a consultation, and we work out the rest from there.

The Practice Table

Coaching for people who hold the work

There is no one right way to do this, and I’m not going to hand you mine as the only option. We build your way out of what you already know and what the people in front of you need.

I’m not there to become the person everyone depends on for the answer. You develop your own capacity to notice what’s happening and trust yourself to respond, even when it’s hard. The work is designed so that you need less support as we go.

I love the move from “tell me what to do, Angie” to “Angie, let me tell you what I noticed and how I handled it”

Angie Brinoni

“I have especially appreciated Angie's approach to correction and conflict resolution, both with clients and staff. Her leadership is truly trauma-informed in that she doesn't simply look at behaviour, but at what causes behaviour, and what positive changes could be made to help behaviour change organically, rather than by way of external pressure.”
Tony Brown

What working together looks like

You bring what’s real and we’ll find a way forward together. Start with a free 30 minute call so we can check it’s a fit, then we book your session.

Individual Practice Coaching

Reflective coaching for practitioners, supervisors, wellness workers and program managers. Working to identify and overcome personal blockers standing in the way of better relationships.

Supervisor Practice Coaching

Focused on the real situations of supervising people. The hard conversations can happen, and you know the relationships will survive it.

“Angie made me feel comfortable, which allowed me to learn and grow.”

If you dare to dream it, we can build it!

The Vision Session is for organisations with an idea forming and no clear plan yet.

There are usually more paths available than the one you came in thinking you need. Once we’ve slowed down enough to hear what’s underneath the ask and looked at what’s true for your organisation, we can start building something different.

Before you tell me your problems, I want to know who you are and who your people are. Tell me what you care about and what you’re hoping for. Relationship is where the work begins, and that starts with our first conversation.

A Vision Session is a way to come together before the work begins and get clear on the goals and direction. Bring your half-formed idea, or the question your team can’t agree on. We’ll put it on the table and find the way forward from there.

The questions we explore together:

The Vision Session

We dream together and then get to work

Every proposal is written for the organisation in front of me. A one day workshop and a year of program building look nothing alike, so here are a few, with the names taken out so you can see what arrives after a vision session and what the engagement it maps out would involve.

What’s Included

“There is wisdom in not knowing too quickly."

Angie Brinoni

How does a Vision Session work?

Listening for what wants to emerge

An organisation is a living breathing entity made from the complexity of the relationships inside it and it has a long history that has to be considered. So I listen to the stories first. I ask questions that go past the surface, because that’s where the useful stuff is buried. Understanding grows at the same pace trust does, and what the solution is becomes clear the further in we get.

From dreaming to doing

After the session I write down the themes and possibilities that came up, and we build a pathway from what emerged that honours all the people involved. The practical pieces follow. The scope of work and the timeline come out of what we found, and they’re different for every organisation. The structure has to come after the relationship, because a plan built before I knew you would only ask your people to fit inside something I designed for somebody else.

What people say after the dreaming is done

“Angie changed the evening shift from a non-productive shift to being the most effective and trusted shift by the youth and adults.”
Mark Wright
Prince George Native Friendship Centre
“Angie has a unique ability to walk in two worlds between Indigenous communities and health care and government.”
Jennifer MacKenzie
Regional MHSU Nurse Clinician, Island Health

To get started, we'll work out which kind of support fits what you're building.

I also work on accreditation, policy writing, program design, operational building, funding proposals, and getting elders and clinicians working alongside each other. Book a free call and tell me what you need. If I can help, I’ll tell you how. If I can’t, I’ll point you to someone who can.

Bring it to my table and we’ll work it out together

Questions people ask

Yes. A vague idea is the usual starting point, and the session is where it gets specific enough to act on.

Yes, with names and identifying details left out to protect confidentiality. What you tell me stays with me. The one limit is the legal duty to report a child or a vulnerable adult at risk.

The Practice Table is coaching for you as a practitioner or a supervisor, either one to one or in small groups, and it runs on whatever’s going on for you at the time. A Vision Session is for an organisation with an idea or a difficulty that needs working out before anything gets built.

On the technical side, yes. A policy with a hole in it, or an intake process that doesn’t meet the standard, gets a straight answer from me. Human situations work differently, because the right response depends on you and the person in front of you, so that one we work out between us.

Most people are promoted out of the team they now supervise, and the work they were good at is no longer the job. The first year goes on working out where your role ends and HR or clinical leadership begins, and how to give feedback to someone who was your equal until recently.

Then we’ve saved you from paying to build the wrong thing. I’d rather find that out in the first conversation than partway through delivery.

Yes, and it’s often easier than starting from nothing, because you already know where the friction is. Most programs work differently in practice from how they were written, and that’s the first thing I’ll look at with you. From there it’s a question of what needs adjusting so it works the way it’s meant to in practice.

No. Coaching starts with a free 30 minute call and we book from there. The Vision Session is for organisations mapping out a piece of work, and it produces the written proposal that engagement runs on.
